The AKW M11 DigiPump is a compact, electronically controlled shower waste pump designed to efficiently drain shower trays where gravity drainage alone is insufficient. Suitable for both electric and mixer showers, it combines the pump motor and digital controller in a single unit, making it an ideal solution for bathrooms with limited space or challenging drainage layouts.

Compact, All-in-One Design With the pump motor and digital controller enclosed within a single housing, this unit takes up significantly less space than traditional two-component pump systems. The non-handed, rotatable pump head allows pipework to enter from either the left or right, and flow to be directed in either direction — reducing installation constraints in tight bathroom spaces.

Broad Shower Compatibility Compatible with a wide range of electric and mixer showers from AKW, Mira, Triton, and many other brands. A hard-wired connection can be made to the flow sensor of an iTherm electric shower and numerous other brands. It also supports wireless connection to the flow sensor within AKW SmartCare Plus and SmartCare Lever electric showers, removing the need for post-installation cable routing or decorative remediation.

Product Overview

Designed for installations where conventional gravity drainage is not possible, this shower waste pump draws water from the shower tray and forces it upward or along horizontal runs to a suitable discharge point. The digital controller continuously monitors water flow via its flow meter input, automatically modulating pump speed to match the incoming water volume — preventing pooling on the tray during use.

The reversible pump head features four valves with a flap valve and bowl design, which improves resistance to debris and allows the inlet pipework to be configured from either side of the unit. The 15mm inlet connects directly to AKW pumped waste options and Braddan upward waste discharge systems, whilst the 22mm outlet handles discharge efficiently within the rated performance envelope.

The internal TGA fuse and IP45 ingress protection rating confirm the unit is safe for installation within the showering area, provided the installation follows the guidance set out in the manufacturer's instructions and complies with BS7671 Wiring Regulations. Operation is virtually silent, avoiding disturbance to other occupants during use.

FAQs

Does this pump work with my electric shower? The M11 DigiPump is compatible with a wide range of electric showers, including models from AKW, Mira, Triton, and other leading brands. For AKW SmartCare Plus and SmartCare Lever electric showers, a wireless connection to the internal flow sensor is supported, removing the need for a sensor cable run. For iTherm electric showers and many other brands, a direct hard-wired connection to the shower's flow sensor can be made. If you are installing with a mixer shower, two flow sensors are required (one for the hot feed and one for the cold feed) — sensor kits are sold separately.

Does the installation require an electrician? Yes. The unit must be connected to a 230V AC mains supply via a 5A fused, double-pole, un-switched spur and a dedicated circuit protected by a 30mA RCD device, in accordance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations. All electrical work must be carried out by a competent person. The unit is a Class II appliance and does not require an earth connection.

How do I maintain the pump and protect the warranty? The pump should be serviced at intervals of no more than 12 months, and more frequently in hard water areas where limescale build-up is a concern. Routine maintenance includes checking the integrity of the casing, testing RCD operation, and inspecting pipe connections. The unit should be cleaned with standard bathroom cleaning products — avoid strong acidic or alkaline cleaners and abrasive cloths. Filters, seals, O-rings, washers, and non-return valves are considered wear parts and are not covered under the warranty. The 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship and must be registered following installation.

Guarantee

This product is covered by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty from the date of installation, covering defects in materials and workmanship on all moving and serviceable parts. Warranty is valid for installations in the UK and Republic of Ireland carried out in accordance with the supplied instructions. To activate your warranty, registration must be completed following installation via the AKW warranty registration process. Wear components including filters, seals, O-rings, washers, and non-return valves are excluded from warranty cover, as is damage resulting from misuse, lime-scale build-up, unauthorised modifications, or failure to carry out recommended maintenance.
