For Trade & Installers

No Back or Arms — Specify Correctly This is the seat-only configuration. It provides no lateral or posterior support beyond the seat surface itself. It is appropriate where the OT assessment confirms the user has sufficient trunk stability to sit unsupported, or where wall-mounted grab rails provide the required support instead.

Wall Fixing & Substrate Must be fixed to a structurally adequate substrate capable of bearing a dynamic load of 254kg.

Seat Height Adjustment Two sets of legs supplied as standard, covering 390–640mm. Set to the height specified by OT assessment or measured on site. The ±13mm support leg fine adjustment must be correctly set to ensure the seat sits level on wet room floors with a gradient.

Blue Pad for Visual Contrast 04120P (blue) provides high-contrast seating, beneficial for visually impaired users. Factor into specification where relevant.

Standards Tested to BS EN 12182:1998 (assistive products — general requirements) and BS EN 12727:2000 (ranked seating — strength and durability).

Warranty Condition Lifetime warranty applies only to first installation.

For Homeowners & Carers

What this product is This is a wall-mounted shower seat that folds flat against the wall when not in use, and folds down to provide a stable seated position for showering. It does not have a back rest or arms — it is a seat surface only. If the person showering needs something to lean back against or grip for support, the version with back and arms (SKU 04250P in grey, 04150P in blue) is more appropriate.

Why horseshoe? The horseshoe shape has an open front cut-out. This makes personal hygiene easier to manage while seated, without needing to stand or reposition. For users who remain seated for the full duration of showering, this is often more practical than a standard full seat.

No arms — is that suitable? This seat suits users who have enough balance and trunk control to sit without arm rests, or where the shower area already has grab rails providing lateral support. If the person using the seat tends to lean to one side, needs to push themselves up from the seat, or requires support when transferring on and off, the version with independent folding arms is likely the better choice. An occupational therapist assessment will confirm which configuration is appropriate.

Adjustable height The seat height adjusts between 390mm and 640mm using the leg sets supplied. The correct height is normally set by an installer based on an OT recommendation or measured against the user's own seated height.

Choosing a colour 04120P has a blue padded cushion; 04220P has a grey padded cushion. Both are padded for comfort. The blue version offers higher visual contrast against a pale shower wall, which can help users with visual impairment locate the seat more easily. The grey version provides a more neutral finish that tends to blend with most wet room schemes.

Cleaning Wipe down with hot soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, bleach, or caustic products — these will damage the cushion surface and frame finish.

Warranty — Summary

Lifetime — covers manufacturing and material defects only. Excludes normal wear and tear, accidental damage, damage from incorrect installation.

FAQs

What is the difference between this seat and SKU 04250P? 04250P is the horseshoe seat with a padded back rest and independent folding arms. This page covers 04120P - the horseshoe seat without back or arms. The seat shape, dimensions, weight rating, and adjustment range are the same. The difference is the level of support provided.

Can I add a back rest or arms to this seat later? No. The back rest and arms are not available as add-on accessories for the no-arms frame. If back and arm support are needed, order 04250P (grey) or 04150P (blue) instead.

Why would I choose a seat without arms over one with arms? A seat without arms has a smaller wall projection when deployed (485mm vs 702mm for the armed version) and may be preferred where space is limited. It may also be specified where wall-mounted grab rails already provide the required lateral support, making fold-down arms redundant. The final decision should be led by an OT assessment.

Can I buy a replacement cushion if mine wears out? Yes. Blue replacement horseshoe cushion: SKU 04185.

What wall does it fix to? Must be fixed to a substrate capable of bearing a 254kg dynamic load — solid masonry or a backing rail/board system behind plasterboard or wall panels. Your installer should confirm the wall construction before fixing.
