Product Overview

The AKW M20 DigiPump is the highest-capacity model in the AKW DigiPump range, delivering a maximum pumping rate of 20 litres per minute. It is designed for mixer shower installations with demanding flow volumes where the M11 or M17 would be insufficient, and for situations where gravity drainage is not achievable. Like the rest of the DigiPump range, it activates automatically via an internal or external flow sensor, with adjustable delay and run-on times to optimise drainage efficiency and minimise noise. IP45 rated and approved for installation in Zones 1 and 2, it is compatible with AKW, Mira, Triton and other brands.

Matching pump capacity to shower output is essential to preventing tray flooding and avoiding motor strain from prolonged duty operation.

Adjustable Flow Sensor Settings — Precise Calibration to the Installation: The M20 uses the AKW Flow Sensor and supports four flow meter input settings — On/Off, 600, 1000 (default), and 2200 pulses per minute. This range of settings means the pump can be tuned accurately to the specific shower's flow characteristics, reducing false triggering and unnecessary run time.

IP45 Rating, Zone 1 and 2 Approved — Installed Where the Work Is: The IP45 rating confirms the M20 can be sited directly within the showering area without the need for remote installation. The reversible pump head allows inlet pipework from either direction, and two non-return valves provide backflow protection as standard.

FAQs

How do I know if I need the M20 rather than the M17? The deciding factor is the flow rate of your shower. The M20 handles up to 20 litres per minute versus the M17's 17 litres per minute. Check the specified flow rate of the mixer shower being installed. Where flow rates are at or near the upper limit of the M17, specifying the M20 gives headroom and avoids the pump running at maximum duty continuously.

What is the duty cycle and why does it matter? All three DigiPump models share the same duty cycle: 30 minutes maximum on, at 50% duty (30 minutes on, 30 minutes off). This is a thermal protection limit. In a standard domestic showering scenario this is not a constraint, but in commercial or care environments with back-to-back shower use, it is worth factoring into the specification.

Can the M20 be connected wirelessly to a compatible shower? The M20 can be connected wirelessly to AKW SmartCare Plus and SmartCare Lever electric showers using the AKW Wireless Pump Module, available separately. For other brands, a hard-wired connection to the shower's flow sensor is the standard installation method. The pump also responds via its internal flow sensor without any wired or wireless connection where required.
