For Trade & Installers
Doc M Compliance This pan meets Document M (Building Regulations, Access to and Use of Buildings) requirements for accessible WC facilities. The 455mm seated height (with AKW ergonomic seat fitted) complies with Doc M guidelines for ambulant and wheelchair-accessible WCs. Confirm the full WC layout — including grab rail positions and clear transfer space — against the current Doc M guidance for the relevant installation type (new build, adaptation, or public facility).
Cistern Configuration The pan is back-to-wall and requires either a concealed cistern behind a wall/unit, or a low-level cistern connected via flush pipe. Cistern is not included — select the appropriate cistern separately and follow the separate Navlin Doc M cistern installation instructions. Note: AKW specifies whether the cistern should be connected to the pan before positioning — confirm this against the cistern instructions before starting.
Waste Connection Horizontal outlet. Supports both P-trap and S-trap configurations. Waste outlet centre is 100mm from finished floor, 180mm from finished wall. Cut waste outlet pipe to length on site as required. Confirm soil pipe position relative to floor fixing centre-points before drilling.
Water Supply (Back-to-Wall Specific) Water supply inlet enters through the finished wall at 45mm from wall face. Ensure supply pipework is positioned accordingly before tiling or boarding. Cold water isolating valves must be fitted to inlet pipework in compliance with Water Regulations.
Floor Fixings Four-point side-entry L-bracket system. L-brackets must be positioned on the inside of the pan — measure ceramic width to confirm before marking. All four fixing holes must be used. Do not over-tighten. Apply sealant between pan base and floor after fixing.
Access for Maintenance Future access to water supply and fixings is a regulatory requirement. Plan service access accordingly, particularly where the cistern is concealed behind a fitted unit or framed duct.
Weight / Handling Ceramic pan — handle with care. Two-person lift recommended. Check floor surface is smooth and clear of debris before moving into position; damage caused during installation is not covered by warranty.

For Homeowners & Carers
What this product is This is the toilet pan only — the ceramic bowl that fixes to the floor. It does not include a cistern (the water tank that flushes it), a toilet seat, or any water connections. These are all bought separately, which lets you choose the options that suit the user's needs. If you're unsure what to order alongside the pan, contact us before purchasing.
Why the raised height matters A standard toilet pan sits at around 400mm. This pan, with the AKW ergonomic seat fitted, sits at 455mm — closer to the height of a chair. For someone with limited mobility, arthritis, or a hip replacement, the extra height makes sitting down and standing up significantly less effortful and reduces the strain on joints. It also makes it easier to transfer sideways from a wheelchair onto the toilet without needing to drop as far.
Why rimless matters There's no rim around the inside of the bowl. Rimless designs flush more directly and leave fewer surfaces where bacteria accumulate — which makes the toilet easier to clean thoroughly, important in a care or assisted-living context.
The wide footprint The pan is deliberately wider than a standard toilet. This gives a more stable base during a side transfer, where a wheelchair user moves across from their chair onto the toilet seat.
Back-to-wall design The cistern (water tank) is hidden inside the wall or behind a fitted unit, rather than sitting on top of the pan. This gives a neater finish and removes pipework that could be a trip or knock hazard. It also makes the toilet easier to clean around.
Choosing a toilet seat AKW's ergonomic seats (sold separately) have shaped lugs on the sides that grip the pan and stop the seat shifting during a side transfer. They're available in white, blue, dark blue, and mid-grey. Blue and mid-grey are higher-contrast options which can help people with visual impairment or dementia orientate more easily. Seats are available with or without a lid.
Cleaning Use hot soapy water or mild detergent with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, caustic soda, or any dry powder cleaning agents — these can damage the ceramic surface finish and will affect the warranty.
Warranty — Summary
Pan & seat: Lifetime, covering manufacturing and material defects only. Flush fittings: 10 years.
Warranty is conditional on installation by a competent installer following the supplied instructions, and starts from the date of installation. Keep proof of purchase. Warranty does not cover wear and tear, limescale or blockage damage, incorrect installation, freeze damage, inappropriate cleaning, or modifications by non-qualified persons. AKW's statutory rights statement: none of the warranty conditions affect your statutory rights.
