Description
Description
The AKW Option A Silverdale range provides a comprehensive, low-access showering solution designed to facilitate assisted bathing while maintaining maximum water retention. This range is designed for shower tray-based installations only (not wet rooms).
This L-shaped system consists of a bi-folding door and a single door, available in both 750mm and 900mm heights to offer carers easy reach-over access without compromising splash protection.
Engineered with durable, lightweight PET frosted panels, these screens offer a shatterproof and private environment for the user. Each set includes a 600mm trimmable ceiling support and an L-shaped curtain rail with a weighted 1800mm x 2000mm curtain, creating a complete enclosure.
With 14.5mm of lateral adjustment in the wall compensators and high-integrity Elastomeric gaskets, the Silverdale series ensures a watertight, professional fit even on uneven walls, backed by the reliability of high-grade aluminium frames and hardwearing Nylon 6 components.
Benefits
- Rising Butt Two-Way Hinges: Effortless Operation – The unique hinge mechanism lifts the doors slightly during movement, ensuring they glide over floor seals without resistance and remain easy to operate for users with limited dexterity.
- 360-Degree Bi-Fold Capability: Maximum Spatial Efficiency – The bi-folding doors open both inwards and outwards, allowing for full 360-degree movement to provide clear access in confined bathroom layouts.
- Magnetic Strips and Profiled Seals: Superior Water Retention – Strong magnetic strips and high-quality Elastomeric gaskets ensure the doors remain securely closed and watertight, preventing leaks onto the bathroom floor.

How to Choose the Correct Screen
- Pick Your Handedness:
Left-handed vs Right-handed applies to rectangular trays (e.g. 1200×700mm), where one panel is longer than the other. You determine whether you need a left-handed or right-handed screen based on which side the longer door panel is located, when standing at the opening door entry corner:
- Left-handed - the longer door panel is on your left as you face the shower
- Right-handed - the longer door panel is on your right as you face the shower

Important: Choosing the wrong handedness is the most common ordering mistake. Returns are chargeable, so please check carefully before ordering. If you are unsure, please call us on 0161 223 5050.
2. Choose your size:
Each option has 2 door panels. Measure your longest door first, then your shortest length. Then select those sizes from the size option boxes.
Note: Some screen sizes are made to order and could take 7-10 days to be despatched. Please message us first to confirm before placing your order. Made to measure screens are non returnable.
Quick Selection Checklist
Use this to avoid the most common ordering mistakes:
- Is your tray rectangular? → Determine left or right
- Have you measured the long door panel side first, then the short side?
- Does the screen width allow safe access for the user?
- Do you need a 750mm or 900mm screen height?
- Have you checked whether your size is made to order?

FAQs
Can these screens be installed on uneven walls?
Yes. The Silverdale wall compensators provide 14.5mm of adjustment on either side. This allows the installer to compensate for walls that are out of plumb, ensuring the doors align correctly and the seals remain watertight.
Are the PET panels safe for high-use environments?
Absolutely. The panels are manufactured from lightweight PET, which is shatterproof. This makes them a significantly safer option than standard glass in accessible bathrooms where mobility aids or wheelchairs may accidentally strike the screen.
Do the doors swing both ways?
Yes. The single door features 180-degree hinges and the bi-fold doors feature 360-degree hinges. This allows them to open both inwards and outwards, providing total flexibility for access and cleaning in smaller bathroom layouts.
