Description
The SWP/IMP is the top-specification pump kit in the Whale range, designed for installations where quiet operation, automatic flow-rate matching, and mixer shower compatibility are all required in a single unit.
Unlike fixed-speed pump kits, the SWP/IMP automatically regulates its motor speed in response to the shower's actual flow rate. This means the pump only works as hard as it needs to at any given moment — reducing noise output considerably compared to constant-speed alternatives, and reducing wear on the pump over its service life. It also compensates for fluctuations in mains voltage, maintaining consistent drainage performance regardless of supply variation.
With a maximum drainage capacity of 12 litres per minute for mixer showers and 8 litres per minute for electric showers, the SWP/IMP is the highest-capacity pump in the Whale range and the only kit aside from the Switch Connect (SWP) to support both mixer and electric shower installations with no additional conversion kit required.
Anti-vibration noise reduction, an external switch to run the pump independently, and auto shower-stop functionality are all included as standard. No Bluetooth connection is required.
Suitable for wet room floors and shower trays. For wet room floor installations, the TAD13 shallow waste gully is required separately. Warranty: 3 years, extendable to 5 years on registration.

SWP/IMP is the right choice if: You need the quietest possible operation, mixer or electric shower compatibility, auto shower-stop, and an external switch — without requiring Bluetooth.
Consider SWP/IMBT if: You are specifically installing a Mira Advance Flex Extra and want Bluetooth integration with automatic shower-stop over a wireless connection.
Consider SWP if: You need mixer shower compatibility but don't require variable speed, noise reduction, or auto shower-stop.
Consider SWP/WM if: Electric shower only, straightforward installation, no noise reduction requirement.
For Trade and Installers
The SWP/IMP addresses the two most common complaints about pumped shower waste installations: noise and fixed-speed inefficiency. By regulating motor speed against actual flow rate rather than running at a constant maximum, the pump is significantly quieter in operation and generates less vibration — particularly noticeable in installations where the pump is located in a room adjacent to a bedroom or living space.
The voltage compensation feature is worth noting for installations in properties with less stable mains supply — older housing stock, rural properties, or care homes with multiple high-draw appliances — where fluctuating supply voltage could otherwise affect pump consistency.
The inclusion of an external switch and auto shower-stop as standard makes the SWP/IMP suitable for assisted bathroom environments where a carer may need to control the pump independently, or where an automatic shutoff on pump power loss is a requirement of the specification.
Installation notes:
- Compatible with both mixer and electric showers — no conversion kit required
- For wet room floor installations, the TAD13 shallow waste gully is required separately
For Homeowners and Family Members
If noise is a concern — for example, if the bathroom is next to a bedroom, or the pump will be running during the night — the Instant Match Premium is the quietest option in the Whale range. Because it adjusts its speed to match exactly how much water the shower is producing, it runs more quietly than pumps that operate at full speed regardless of flow.
It works with both electric and mixer showers, so if you're unsure which type of shower is being installed, or if you're planning to change showers in future, the SWP/IMP covers both without needing any additional parts.
Auto shower-stop is included — if the pump loses power while the shower is running, the shower switches off automatically rather than allowing waste water to back up. This is a useful safety feature in bathrooms used by older or mobility-impaired family members.
As with all pumped shower installations, fitting should be carried out by a qualified plumber or bathroom installer.
